Hello, my name is Nicholas Ferrar. I was born in 1593 and I died in 1637. I was the founder of a religious community that lasted from 1626 to 1646. The most important thing in my life was my religious faith, but my church and family were equally important. My wife was called Mary Woodnoth and two of my children were called John and Susanna. John was my son in law because he married Susanna. I had eight other children. I lived in a big house in a village called Little Gidding. People called it the Ferrar house because we lived there. My mother was called Mary Ferrar. She lived for eighty four years. The church was lovely; my favourite part of it is my tapestry because it brings back good memories.
