Cambridgeshire Education ICT Service Fortnightly Briefing

Upgrades to Cambridge CCN

 Audience: School Staff

There will be a short service break on Tuesday 4th August 2009 between 18:00 and 21:00 hours.

This break is to allow for the upgrade of equipment in preparation for Primary school CCN bandwidth upgrades. The work has been categorised as low risk and can readily be rolled back should problems occur.

In technical terms, the work is as follows:

The work is to spread out the circuits across the existing Aggregation Router interface to make use of the additional ports / buffer limitsthere is no new hardware etc, so it is effectively like repatching the circuits.  Each port has a 1.4mb buffer limit, so we are spreading the circuits out to 1 in every 8 ports, so the circuits stand no chance of exceeding their buffer limit. Worse case scenario is they can back out the circuits to their original / existing ports.
