Potential Video Streaming Service

Purpose:    Register interest

Audience:  ICT staff in schools

We have had requests from schools about the availability of a central video streaming service that could provide one or more of the following facilities

(1)  Video Streaming of live video streams (e.g. watching a bird's nest in real time);

(2)  Video Streaming of uploaded video files;

(3) Uploading student created video (e.g. an animation) for subsequent playback, download, embedding in a web page.

We have been discussing the provision of such a service with other authorities in the East of England through E2BN, our Regional Broadband Consortium. Before going further we would like the views of schools on the possibility of such a service and the features it should contain.

We would encourage you to comment by completing the online form that can be found at http://www.e2bn.org/videoform.html

Depending on responses received further discussions about the viability of such a service will take place in September.
