Email migration and Starz Accounts

 

Purpose:    STARZ user Email problems

Audience:  Primary Headteachers / Teachers using STARZ
 

Has your school been migrated and are you experiencing problems sending and receiving emails in Starz?  When your school’s email is migrated, Starz user accounts (i.e. pupil and class accounts) take on a new domain name (email address).

 

If you are having problems since migration, please notify the Helpline as soon as possible, giving details of which accounts are affected and the date your school was migrated.

Facebook style website for 7 year olds

 

Purpose:    E-Safety concerns
Audience:  All Cambridgeshire Primary Headteachers / Teachers

 

We have recently become aware of a Facebook style website targeted at 7 to 11 year olds called schooltogethernow.The ICT Service has serious concerns about this website, its security, registration and e-safety. Please consult tim.daines@cambridgeshire.gov.uk or gareth.davies@cambridgeshire.gov.uk at the ICT Service if this site becomes an issue. Do make yourself familiar with the principles of Internet Safety at Kidssmart or ChildNet or the Education Portal.

 

 

Accreditation for ICT Subject Leaders

 

Purpose:    ICT Accreditation - Register now
Audience:  Primary ICT Subject Leaders

 

We are delighted to announce that a modular course for current and aspiring ICT subject leaders in primary schools has recently been given the go ahead from Cambridge University, Faculty of Education. The course will start in the Spring Term 2009 and run through to the end of the summer term. Publicity is currently being finalised and will be in schools before Christmas, but if you are interested in this opportunity then please contact sally.elding@cambridgeshire.gov.uk

 


 

Assessment for Learning: SENTEO Pupil Response Systems
 
Purpose:   School Improvement
Audience: Headteachers, SLT and Assessment Coordinators, Primary and Secondary
 
Action Research Project -  for the past year a group of our schools have been testing a Response System (sometimes called a voting system).
The SENTEO system integrates fully with the Smart board and provides a flexible tool to engage pupils in interactive and dynamic assessment for learning.
Activities can be designed and planned for, or it can be used to support learning on the move.

Central Hosting Workshops - For Centrally Hosted Schools only

We are holding workshops for Centrally Hosted schools, which will cover: benefits of Central Hosting, logging on and remote access, file management, sharing access and information across the school, and an opportunity to discuss individual needs and requirements.

Cambridgeshire Online Training Search (COTS) is a database of training opportunities provided by the Local Authority.  It can be accessed from any computer connected to the Internet without the need for a password; its powerful search engine will help you to find suitable courses.  Eventually, all providers will be using this database, please check the Providers list for the services currently represented.  You will already find the complete listing of courses offered by CAS, CREDS, SLS, Education ICT Service, ISSIS, Cambridgeshire Youth Work and Connexions.  Go to: COTS to access this service now.
