WWW Access from Schools
 
Purpose:   Remind schools of recent changes to Internet access
Audience: Headteachers, SIMS System Managers, School ICT Teams
 
This item is a reminder (as per newsletter Item April 2007) that all devices on School CCN networks need to ensure they have proxy settings set within their Browsers. These changes also affect SOLUS updates.

Changes to SIMS Technology   
 
Purpose:   Important information about changes needed to your Server and Workstations
Audience: Headteacher / School Secretary -  SIMS Primary, Nursery& Special Schools and PRU's
 
An envelope containing a CD, letter and installation instructions has been distributed to Primary, Nursery & Special Schools and PRU's via the courier bag. You will need to use the CD on the fileserver and all workstations that run SIMS .net before upgrading to the August release. Should you require assistance with the installation, please contact the ICT Helpline at tel: 0845 0450973 or email: ict.helpline@cambridgeshire.gov.uk

Schools Network & Systems Security Health Check
 
Purpose:    Important service information
Audience:  Headteacher and ICT Managers
 
Cambridgeshire County Audit and Information Governance - Policy, Advice & Guidance. This report identifies each of the areas of concern and provides recommendations for changes to meet audit requirements including policy statements that would substantially contribute to promoting good practice. It also provides direction to advice and guidance for any school developing or reviewing their own ICT user and security policies.

At the request of a number of schools, the Education ICT Service are able to offer additional support to carry out and complete the audit for your school during a day visit @ £350 . ICT Service Training Programme - New brochure 2007-08
 
All Schools will have received a copy of the Cambridgeshire Education ICT Service Training Course Programme 07/08, which will give you full details of courses available at Godmanchester and other venues.
 
It also has a useful pull out calendar, which indicates a quick guide to all courses scheduled with dates available.  Please contact Course Admin either by telephone on 01480 376670 or email: ict.courses@cambridgeshire.gov.uk should you require any further copies of the programme.
 

Cambridgeshire Online Training Search 
 
Cambridgeshire Online Training Search (COTS) is a database of training opportunities provided by the Local Authority.  It can be accessed from any computer connected to the Internet without the need for a password: go to: COTS to access this service.  Its powerful search engine will help you to find suitable courses.  Eventually, all providers will be using this database, please check the Providers list for the services currently represented.  You will already find the complete listing of courses offered by CAS, CREDS, SLS, Education ICT Service, ISSIS, Cambridgeshire Youth Work and Connexions.
