First Settlers Project Goes Big Brother (-ish) This project for KS2 pupils is timed to coincide
with the 400th anniversary of the group of men and boys who left
English shores on December 20th 1606 to arrive on the Virginian coast
in May 1607. This short project
will involve and engage pupils with a wealth of material available about the
project. It will require the pupils to research, present and then take part in a
balloon style~ big brother debate to evict members and decide a winner.

Battle of the
Poets We have engaged the service of a professional
poet for this Starz project, now in its second
year. Andrew Fusek Peters is The
Tall Poet and he will help older pupils to prepare and perform their poems
live as part of a Flash Meeting video conference. Pupils will then battle it out live again as part of a
video conference and in front of a panel of judges to decide a winner.
The Project will take place in June and early July. To read more and to
find out how to register go to the projects area in Starz.

Statement from Simon Bright - E2BN Technical Services Manager:
On Thursday 10th May 2007 there was a major incident that affected E2BN-delivered services across all connected Local Authorities in the region.
The cause was traced to an external virus that launched a denial-of-service attack, affecting the operation of the E2BN core firewalls. Easynet are compiling a full report to all Local Authorities in the region.
E2BN will be discussing the report with Easynet in order to plan what must be done to mitigate against a similar attack in the future.
