ICT Conference for School Leaders 21st June 2006

 

Purpose:    Diary reminder and information about workshops

Audience:  Leadership teams

 

The full conference programme and booking form should arrive in schools during the first week of term. It will also be available to download from our portal webpage.

 

A rich choice of 14 workshops has been organised, including an extended afternoon session on Building Schools for the Future, with Steve Moss, Education ICT Adviser at Partnerships for Schools.

 

Please ensure you return the booking form with your choice of workshops promptly, even if you have already reserved a place by e-mail.

The conference will be held at Robinson College, Cambridge with two compelling keynote speakers:

  • Tim Rylands - Winner of the 2005 Becta ICT in Practice Award - "an inspirational teacher, with a love of the creative potential of technology"; and
  • Professor John C Adams - Chair of the National Association of School Governors.

As usual, headteachers are encouraged to attend for the whole day. Where this is not possible, another member of staff is welcome to take their place for the afternoon workshops.  Attendance is free for Cambridgeshire headteachers. This year a limited number of places will be available for Chairs of Governors or ICT Link Governors.


SIMS Assessment Manager Using the Wizard Manager

Training in Microsoft products

 
Purpose:    For Information
Audience:  All school staff
 
Please note that from May 2006 the Education ICT Service will not be hosting its own Microsoft training. However, we will provide callers with a suggested list of local providers.  This is in response to falling demand and the availability of free or subsidised training from other commercial and non-commercial providers.
 


Internet Safety Guidance

Purpose:    Information about updated guidance
Audience:  Leadership team and ICT staff

Guidance to Educational Establishments on Child Protection and the use of the Internet has been updated by the Education Child Protection Service and the Education ICT Service.  It can be downloaded from the Education Portal by searching for resource id 2143 or by clicking here

Please ensure that your school's internet policy takes account of this update, and that all staff using the internet with children understand the measures that are needed to make it a positive and safe educational experience.
