Subject:     Wireless Networking
Purpose:    Important Information
Audience:  Headteacher

Due to a number of recently reported complications surrounding schools implementing wireless systems not compatible with CCN, causing school systems to be in breach of CCN security, we would strongly urge schools wishing to extend the functionality of their network by means of a Wireless system to seek advice and guidance beforehand from the Education ICT Service.

CCN has strict policies relating to security of the network; any additional connectivity devices, especially wireless, can cause you to breach the CCN policies if incorrectly configured. Any additional cabling that is required to connect your wireless access points to the school network should also be carried out by a MOLEX Warranted cabling contractor to ensure you do not void your cabling warranty.

Advice and guidance documents are available on the portal at:

www.icttid.ccceducation.net  click on Wireless Networking Document

If you are intending to add new network points onto your current cabling infrastructure, as mentioned in the previous item, you need to ensure the work is carried out by a MOLEX accredited, warranted cabling contractor to ensure your 10/15/20/25 year warranty is not made void.

For any issues, advice and guidance you may need, or if you are unsure of the rules surrounding the acceptable use policy of CCN, please refer to the Schools CCN Information and Guidance document available on the portal at:
