HELPLINE CLOSURE - Due to training commitments the Helpline will be closed on Wednesday 25th May from 12:00 to 17:00, sorry for any inconvenience caused. The phone will be manned by a skeleton staff for emergencies calls.
 
SIMS SPRING UPGRADE - The instructions for the upgrade have now been sent to all schools via email. There will be no more CD for SIMS upgrade this will be run through an upgrade tool called SOLUS. All the notes have been sent with the previous email, if you need any further help please do not hesitate to contact the helpline either on 01480-376650 or ict.helpline@cambridgeshire.gov.uk. This upgrade includes the 2005 KS Wizards for Assessment Manager6.
 
FMS6 UPGRADE - This software still requires a CD for upgrade, the CD is expected to arrive w\c 16th May 2005. Once we receive the CD we will be testing and then sending them to FSM6 users only w/c 23rd May 2005.

Sophos Renewal Notices

We understand some schools are receiving renewal notices from Sophos urging them to purchase new licences to provide antivirus software.

Providing you subscribe to our Core support service, this is not necessary as you are covered under a central LEA licence.

Subject:     Final Conversion
Purpose:    For Information
Audience:  SIMS Schools
 
FINAL CONVERSION

You will all have heard about the final conversion to SIMS .Net. This is the new face of SIMS, Launcher will disappear and you will be moving over to a fully integrated system. There will be no more Common Platform 2 modules (Star, Data Manager, AM5 etc)  Dos modules are a thing of the past and Core Integrator need never be run again.

There is a real need to convert as soon as possible as the 2006 PLASC return can only be produced in SIMS .Net live. All secondary, Special and Nursery schools have already converted and so far about 35% of primary school have converted.

The aim is for all schools to be converted to SIMS .Net by November 2005. It would be a good start to the new academic year to complete your final conversion as soon as possible.
