About the Procurement Team

The Procurement team offers a best value service, purchasing largely through framework agreements and providing after-sales support.
Following the inspection, the ICT Service pursued the standardisation of hardware with a focus on best value rather than on the cheapest solutions. Standardisation has resulted in vastly improved quality and reliability of school systems complemented by comprehensive manufacturer warranties. Through liaison groups, ICT Co-ordinator meetings and school visits, schools are encouraged to follow our specifications. They make independent procurement decisions, but increasingly understand the risk of purchasing non-standard equipment without taking proper advice.
Because of standardisation, the ICT Service has improved and focused its technical services through the development of comprehensive support systems and materials, and through accredited staff training. The introduction of remote access to school networks enables technicians to provide a more effective support service to schools with an overall reduction in the Total Cost of Ownership of systems.
Restructuring the Procurement Team has improved the quality of its technical advice, while robust ordering and monitoring procedures have ensured that equipment is delivered on time and installed to the highest standard. Since 2000, procurement volumes have shown a 64% increase from £800,000 to £1,350,000.
