Developing ICT Capability ~ Foundation Stage

Early Learning Goal: To find out about and identify the uses of everyday technology and use information and communication technology and programmable toys to support their learning.

Using ICT to support Knowledge and Understanding of the World

Numeracy

Research

In role play use telephones, cash tills and money, keyboards and calculators to develop number recognition.

Observe and talk about the uses of equipment in and around the school eg photocopier, fax, email etc

Use software such as Tizzy's First tools to play numeracy related activities eg Counting to develop one - one correspondence.

Visit a local supermarket to identify the many uses of ICT - replicate these uses back at base.

With adult support use calculators to support number recognition.

Read and learn how to navigate  an interactive book on screen....

Take photographs on numbers in the environment and use in a variety of ways back at base. Use the digital microscope to look at objects collected. Talk about what is seen through the lens.
