Year 5 lesson The Lesson • Talk about the Five Pillars of Islam and look at some websites to see how these are presented on the internet • If pupils want to make their own presentation they can use PowerPoint to prepare a linked document with a page for each of the Five Pillars. Alternatively, pupils can modify the prepared PowerPoint presentation, altering text colour and background colour. Choose a style suited to the information which is going to be entered • As each of the five pillars is researched, pupils should add text to the relevant page of the PowerPoint presentation. Have both the internet browser window and the PowerPoint windows open at the same time, switching between the two as required • Check the presentation. Correct any spelling, grammar or factual errors • Save the presentation. Why are we using ICT? The recommended websites here present information in a form that is easily accessible by pupils and can be readily copied into a word processed document or presentation software. Preparing a presentation is a useful device for making pupils look for hard information and convey it to an audience.
